I admit it. In spite of being one of the founding members of edSocialMedia, I don't spend much time with Twitter. But when I felt the ground shake for about 10 seconds at my home in Southern Maine, the first thing I did was launch Twitter on my iPad to see what happened.
There is quite simply nothing like Twitter for getting information in a case like this. Mind you, the information might be wrong. But tonight my Tweeps let me know within seconds of the shaking stopping that they felt it, too, and it wasn't a nuclear sub exploding or something.
So, even though I don't often make Twitter part of my daily routine, I am in awe of just how powerful it is as a tool for sharing information. Granted, without it, I only would have had to wait a few seconds longer to get confirmation from my Facebook friends.
